Our Mission: to provide high quality honey bee products, sustainable hive management solutions and unique honey bee interactions for all of its customers.
How We Started
Queen City Bee Co. started in 2014 when husband and wife team Carlier and Sally had more bees than they knew what to do with. What started out as a hobby, grew to be over 8 hives in their backyard and so Queen City Bee Co. was born. The company initially offered local honey and bee removals, but expanded to bring unique honey bee experiences through hive programs. Handcrafted bee-based body products and honey infusions soon followed to provide Cincinnati with a wide range of honey bee services and products.
Meet the Bee Team
Carlier Smyth
Beekeeper/Removal Specialist
Queen City Bee Co. Co-Founder Carlier is a Cincinnati Fire Department firefighter who took up beekeeping back in 2013 when he was looking for a challenging new hobby. He quickly grew to love it and decided to turn it into a business with his partner, Sally. Carlier is our Head Beekeeper who manages the hive programs, bee removals, and honey and beeswax extractions.
Sally Pope
Business Manager
Our other Co-Founder, Sally, is a public health professional by day and Queen City Bee Co.’s chief product maker by night. She loves coming up with new concoctions for body products and honey infusions. Sally makes the bee-based body products and honey infusions and manages Queen City Bee Co.’s website and social media accounts.
Jeff Richardson
Beekeeping Apprentice
Jeff has been a valuable part of the Queen City Bee Co. team since he joined us in 2016. An artist and a business consultant with interests in botany and entomology, Jeff’s drive, commitment and desire to learn all things honey bees is infectious. You can see his smiling face at the various farmer’s markets and special events that Queen City Bee Co. is in around the Greater Cincinnati area!
